How we have been supporting contractors and agencies through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The past few months has seen the entire UK population adapt to entirely new and challenging circumstances, both on a professional and personal basis.

Whilst some businesses and workers have been able to transition to a home working environment, others have been unable to continue working entirely due to the restrictions put in place by the Government.

Here at Exchequer, many of our team were able to work from home, allowing us to continue offering our umbrella, CIS and payroll services to contractors and agencies throughout the country. Our services also had to adapt to these new circumstances; with many contractors unable to work and earn a living, they needed to be placed on the Government’s furlough scheme.

Whilst this was an option available to umbrella companies, many chose not to implement a furlough scheme due to the vast amount of administration it required. The livelihood of the contractors we have supported for many years, however, was not something that we could ignore. Therefore, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that each contractor registered with us, that was eligible for furlough, was put into the scheme, thereby ensuring they still had an income during this challenging time.

Preparing for further changes

With the situation changing at an almost constant rate, the Exchequer team has been consistently keeping up to date with the latest guidance and restrictions to ensure that contactors and agencies are supported throughout, whether they are returning to work or continue to be furloughed.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone is able to return to normality in their working lives when safe to do so, but without the added stress of income worries or administration burdens. We want to make this transition back as easy as possible.
