Favourite Christmas gifts from the past

Forget Elsa from Frozen here are some of our favourite Christmas gifts from the past…

From games consoles to characters from the latest blockbuster film it seems that every year there is a must have gift that every child wants and all the shops have sold out of!

Here in the office we’ve been reminiscing about the memorable presents from our childhoods. It seems most of us remember a present that made our Christmas or a year when a particular toy was so hyped that nothing else would do. For some of us it was a bike or games console for others it just had to be the toy from that Disney film or the latest trend that all our friends were getting. We would have given anything to make sure that Furby or Nintendo Game Boy was in our stocking and we mean anything!

Here are some of our toys of Christmas past for you to get nostalgic about.

1971 – Space Hopper
Who doesn’t love a Space Hopper?

1878 – Simon Says and Hungry Hipppos
We think Hungry Hippos stayed popular for years after this.

Rubiks-Cube

1980 – Rubik’s Cube
Although we’re not sure anyone ever completed it!

1983 – Cabbage Patch Kids
Still available and popular today these were massive in the mid-eighties and caused chaos in the shops as parents scrambled to buy one.

1984 – Transformers
Robots that turn into vehicles? What could be more appealing???

1991 – Nintendo Game Boy
Everyone wanted one of these from children to grandparents!

1996 – Buzz Lightyear
This toy space ranger from the film was so popular he sold out before Christmas.

furby

1998 – Furby
The toy that really did become part of the family.
