Introducing Sophie our Assistant Payroll Manager

Sophie-featureName: Sophie

Job title: Assistant Payroll Manager

Talk me through a typical day in the office/work for you?

Each day is different but for example on a Wednesday we process all the payments to our contractors, so Wednesday is always a busy day.  We download their hours worked online and then BACS runs are sent throughout the day.  Basically I’m here in the office until the last payment has been processed so it can often be a late night.  Most of our contractors are paid weekly but some are fortnightly and some monthly.    Payments hit on a Friday and then we can relax a bit, happy in the knowledge that everyone has been paid in time for the weekend.

What is your favourite part of the job?

I love the variety and I enjoy speaking to the contractors.  It’s always good hearing their feedback.

If you didn’t work at Exchequer Solutions what would be your dream job?

It would have to be something to do with animals.  I love animals so any job which involved working with them.

When you aren’t in work where are most likely to be found?

Probably at home or somewhere nearby.  I live in quite a rural area and I’ve got a little dog so I love getting out and about for country walks near I live, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying nature.

Where would your ideal holiday be and why?

On safari in Africa.  I’d just love to go, I’d be in awe of all the animals.
