CIS is a viable option for construction workers who can demonstrate that they are not subject to supervision, direction and control.

CIS (Self-Employed) margin:

Exchequer will retain a small part of our income as a margin for our services. In some cases, a proportion of this will go towards insurance fees.

What is Exchequer’s margin?

We retain a competitive margin of £20 per week.

What about the cost of public liability insurance?

If you don’t have your own public liability insurance, we can arrange it for you.

Umbrella

For those skilled contractors that find themselves falling outside the scope of SDC (supervision, direction or control), they may continue to operate via an umbrella method with the facility of claiming tax relief for mileage.

The umbrella model works almost parallel to our Exchequer PAYE scheme in the respect that we employ all contractors and take care of all the administration costs that come when employing a contractor, including dealing with payment and tax queries, giving the best possible advice when needed.

Notice period

If you are a sub-contractor there is no notice required, you are free to provide your services to any contractor that you see fit and Exchequer Solutions will not retain a margin after you have ceased supplying services to us.

If you are engaged via an employment contract then a notice period will be included, normally 1 week. We will not, however, retain a margin if you don’t actually work in the final week.

Refund policy

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for our services. If for any reason you have a dispute, please contact Exchequer Solutions directly and we will endeavour to resolve your issue.
