modern slavery and human trafficking

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Legislation and Training

Recent changes in legislation now place an obligation upon certain commercial organisations or companies to publish a slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year.

This statement must include how they have addressed the provision of training for their staff.

Sadly modern slavery and human trafficking are issues which we all need to have an awareness of.

The facts

April 2015 – March 2016:

884 Modern Slavery crimes recorded by the police in England and Wales

2015

  • 117 offenders prosecuted for Modern Slavery offences in the UK
  • 3,266 potential victims were identified in the UK and referred to the National Referral
  • Mechanism (NRM) for support, a 40% increase from 2014
  • 75% of all referrals originate from a first contact to the NHS

Here is a brief overview of the two courses which we think may be of interest to our clients.
