Meet the Team – Hector Dawson

Get to know more about our Lead Generation Executive, Hector Dawson, including his role at Exchequer, how he has found his time here so far and a little bit about himself!

About Hector’s role

How have your first three months been with Exchequer?

I was somewhat reluctant to start my professional life after graduating from university, fearing that I would feel uninspired and that no job at graduate level would take me seriously. Exchequer however has made the transition to working life an absolute joy. The team are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere challenging but in a supportive and encouraging way and I feel like I make a real difference daily, speaking to people up and down the country. I’m hoping with the continual guidance of Tony and the support of colleagues I can progress onto becoming a BDM.

What’s the best part of your job?

I enjoy a call in which me and the call handler are both bouncing off each other and willing to help out each other, even if I mess my words up or something and they laugh, calls like that give the job a character that roles that have you sat in a silo can’t match.

What have you learnt?

I’ve never been a naturally organised and efficient person, and my previous job in marketing didn’t require the same kind of pulse tracking that this job does daily. So, above all else, this job has shown me how to get in the zone and get the job done. Secondary to this it has given me endless confidence in the face of rejection or setback, which can be applied everywhere.

About Hector

What was your childhood dream job?

I’ve thought of a few answers but probably always was and still would be a presenter on Topgear. I’ve liked Chris Harris and Rory Reid but as for the others, I think they need all the help they can get.

If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I think I had four Carbonara’s in a row at an all-inclusive, so that’s my best bet.

Do you have a secret party trick?

Horse and Goose noises.

What’s the last book you read?

Pass.

Which 3 people would you invite to your celebrity come dine with me (dead or alive)?

Louis Theroux, Snoop Dogg and David Attenborough.

Where would you like to visit in the world?

Rio De Janeiro, Sydney, Singapore, Edinburgh.
