Exchequer tackles Tough Mudder

This past weekend the Exchequer team donned their gym gear and headed to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire to tackle the Tough Mudder challenge.

Twenty-one members of the Exchequer team signed up for the event as part of our Get Active Campaign, our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging the team to improve their fitness. Launched earlier this year, the initiative has taken on a life of its own at Exchequer, with £100 given to each member to spend on their choice of activity to get themselves moving. With a 10k, half marathon and triathlon under our belts, this was just the latest in a series of challenges that Exchequer has participated in.

Tough Mudder - Exchequer team

Labelled the world’s best obstacle course and mud run, Tough Mudder takes participants round an epic 8-10 mile journey through a mud-soaked obstacle course. The course itself consisted of 25 obstacles, including climbing walls, muddy lakes, swing ropes and so much more. Needless to say, we had one very muddy (not to mention cold) team at the finish line.

Tough Mudder itself is well-known to take participants out of their comfort zone, challenging them and ultimately getting everyone to work together as a team. Whilst all of the team dove head first into the challenge, some literally did so, going head first into a mud slide, leaving them completely encased in mud (eyes, ears and even teeth!).

Speaking of the event, MD at Exchequer, Mike Lowndes has said: “Staying active has always played a huge role for Exchequer. Events such Tough Mudder bring us together and ultimately promote a healthier, more active lifestyle. The whole team has thrown themselves into the Get Active initiative and I am extremely proud to see so many of us turn up today and take on the challenge. It’s been great fun.”
