Being your own boss

Being your own boss can be a daunting prospect for some people whilst for others it is a dream.

The way we work in the UK has changed dramatically and there are so many different ways of working that more and more people are appreciating the benefits of self-employment.

The economic crisis changed the way many of us think about employment. Redundancies and changes to personal circumstances meant that people who had never considered self-employment before began to see it as a realistic option. The way recruitment and professional services companies have developed has also changed the way we work and think.

There is now more choice and flexibility than ever. Registering a limited company is the preferred option for some whilst others aren’t quite ready to take that plunge. Being registered as an umbrella employee offers many of the benefits and the security o f employment along with some of the flexibility of self-employed contracting. This often suits contractors who have left permanent employment and are enjoying the freedom of taking on different short and medium term contracts.

As an umbrella employee you can pick and choose which agencies you approach for work. You are free to take on the contracts that suit you and move on to new contracts or projects all whilst under one employment contract with your umbrella company. For some people having all their tax and expenses calculated weekly and retaining benefits such as sick pay whilst still having the flexibility to move around offers the perfect balance.

If this sounds right for you call 01244 563 133 or register online.

If you are already registered as a limited company or considering going ltd then our sister company Exchequer Accountancy Services will be able to help.
