Ellie, our Expenses and SDC Supervisor, is currently training hard in preparation for the Chester Metric Marathon which is taking place in October.

The 26.2km (16.3mile) race around the city takes place on closed roads and takes in many of the city’s landmarks as well as some of the stunning Cheshire countryside. Runners benefit from fantastic support from spectators in the city and as they run through some of the surrounding villages.

The MBNA Chester Metric Marathon was added to the Chester calendar in 2014 and has become popular with experienced runners as well as those looking for their next challenge after completing a half-marathon. It is being held on 2nd October, the same day as the Chester half marathon and the mini marathon so promises to be a big event. The race will finish at the iconic Chester racecourse.

Ellie is running to raise funds for cancer research. She sadly lost her aunty to cancer a few years ago so will be running the race in her memory.

Having previously completed a half marathon a few years ago and the occasional Race for Life since, Ellie is aware that this represents a bigger challenge. She has some work to do to build up to running this longer distance but she is currently relishing the challenge and taking her training very seriously working her way up the miles. As someone who used to play basketball at a high level she is no stranger to training and keeping herself fit and she’s hoping this will help! We’re sure it will and we know she will be amazing on the day. Good luck Ellie from all the team at Exchequer Solutions!
