Back to school

The long summer holiday is over and if you work in education the holiday is now probably a dim and distant memory.

The beginning of the academic year can be a busy time if you work as a supply teacher or work in education in a freelance capacity. You want to be able to focus on your work and be prepared for the classes you need to cover.  We understand you are often under pressure to prepare at the very last minute so you don’t want to be spending time worrying about how you get paid and calculating for your tax returns.  That is where we might be able to help you with our services.  Many education recruitment agencies are now encouraging their candidates to work for an umbrella company.  This has a many advantages and is definitely worth considering.

How it works

You receive offers of work through your chosen agency/agencies and carry out work at whichever schools you accept assignments for but you are employed by an umbrella company.  The umbrella company then pays your wages to you directly after calculating your tax, National Insurance and holiday pay.  This can save you time and headaches and for many supply teachers who are registered with multiple agencies it means you are always paid in the same way by the same company.  You accrue holiday pay and can pay in to a pension, you can also claim allowable expenses.
